Bacolod is the capital of Negros Occidental Province and considered to be the sugar capital of the country. City dwellers will find recluse in its white sand beaches, feast on its famous Castilian delicacies and experience adventure in climbing Canlaon Volcano.

 

 

Attractions

 

The Provincial Capitol Park, the most elegant park in Western Visayas, with a large lagoon and central fountains fronting the imposing capitol building.

The Negros Occidental Provincial Museum, also known as the "Sugar Museum", for its display of facets of sugar technology.

The small and sleepy town of Silay boasts interesting old houses recalling the Castilian past built when it was still the cultural center of the region. While in Silay, visit the Ideal Bakery, a byword for its Castilian delicacies such as hojas, pan de ara, and pio nono.

The St. Joseph the Worker Chapel, also referred to as the Chapel of the Angry Christ, features a psychedelic mosaic of pop bottles, depicting an angry Jesus and the saints as Filipinos in native dresses.

The Victorias Milling Company is reputedly the largest sugarcane mill and refinery in the world.
