Iloilo

It is one of the oldest cities in the Philippines, rich in historical and cultural attractions. A charming combination of tradition and progress, one will see old churches and houses mixed with Internet Cafes and malls, universities and colleges, rice fields and sea, make up Iloilo's unique charm.

 

 

Attractions

 

The small "Window on the Past" Museo Iloilo on Bonifacio Drive also shows videos of the attractions of Panay and various Philippine festivals.

The city of Arevalo is the center for the production of woven fabrics from jusi and pina.

Miag-ao Church was built in 1786 and declared as national landmark by UNESCO's World Heritage List in 1973.

Plaza Libertad is where the first Filipino flag was raised in triumph after Spain surrendered the province on Dec. 25, 1898.

Twelve kilometers east of Estancia town proper is the Isla de Gigantes an island popular for its 15th century burial cave.
